HELLO, I'M DAVE.
I’ve had quite the journey—one filled with faith, family, service, and a few unexpected adventures along the way.
I’m the author of Deployed with My Mother, a book that shares a deeply personal story of service, sacrifice, and a unique bond between a mother and son. As a Desert Storm veteran, I’ve carried those experiences with me, shaping my perspective on life, leadership, and resilience. I even had the opportunity to put some of those memories into music, writing and performing Band Camp / Mama and Me through Operation Song (Spotify).
Beyond writing and music, I’m also a business owner, proudly operating the Steak ‘n Shake franchise in Murfreesboro, TN. My journey in leadership started early as an Eagle Scout, later earning my degree from ETSU (1995) and a Master of Divinity from Mid-America Baptist Seminary (2003). Faith remains central in my life, and I’m an active member of New Vision Baptist Church.
Since marrying my wonderful wife, Trish, in 2000, we’ve built a life together with our four amazing children. When I’m not busy with family, business, or speaking engagements, you’ll likely find me on the pickleball court, golf course, or throwing a disc in a round of disc golf—always up for a little competition and a good time.

MY BOOK
In 1988 an Army recruiter encouraged David Weill to sign up for his local Reserve Unit. One weekend a month, two weeks in the summer, extra money now, and benefits toward college. What's not to like?
Weill went home and talked it over with his mother. It was a short conversation.
"Hey, Mom. Do you think I should join the Army?"
"No."
But David had a money mindset and a patriotic streak. He figured he could serve his country and get paid to do it. Not only did he sign up, he talked his mother, a nurse, into signing up too.
Then Desert Storm hit the fan, and stuff began to get real.
